YES WE CAN dine in

Tuesday proved to be a record-breaking day with voter turnout, and downtown was no different. Sharon and I waited over an hour in line to cast our ballot. NYC still seems stuck in the 1970s, however, with old lever pull voting machines — no wonder the lines moved so slowly!

Back at home, the week was equally exciting with recipes (although Sophie seemed quite content on her chair). First was a mustard-crusted Salmon with roasted vegetables. The Keta Salmon we had previously was still fresh at Whole Foods, so we picked some more up — really tasty fish!

Next was Sharon’s delicious take on spaghetti — with Spaghetti Squash! This is one of our favorite hearty meals with tomatoes, steamed broccoli, carrots, sliced Mozzarella and grated Parmesan. The plate is also a beautiful mix of fall colors when finished:

We also had a homemade Austrian dish this week — Spätzle! Sharon hand-crafted the crazy dumpling-esque shapes of egg, flour, and milk. Combined in a simple broth with celery and potatoes, it was another fantastic fall meal!

  1. Yes we did! Too bad Missouri lost its title of Bellwether state. According to Wikipedia, bellwether is derived from the Middle English bellewether and refers to the practice of placing a bell around the neck of a castrated ram (a wether) leading its flock of sheep. The movements of the flock could be perceived by hearing the bell before the flock was in sight.

    Learning is fun!

  2. Your dog while tiny is still cute. are you sure its a dog though?!
