After our two day whirlwind tour of Sonoma, we headed to spend the day in Napa Valley. First stop was Auberge du Soleil, an beautiful resort and spa overlooking the valley. We had an appointment with the grounds coordinator who walked us through the private event rooms below the main dining hall. We fell in love! Stunning views, eco-friendly practices and Michelin-rated food completed the picture — this place would be hard to pass up.
Before dining at Auberge for lunch, we made a brief stop across the way at Quintessa — one of Sharon’s favorite wineries. We had a tasting of their fantastic Cabernet Sauvignon paired with small bites from a local restaurant. So tasty!
We then headed back out and sat promptly for a wonderful meal. I had a beautiful tuna tartare, just as the sun began to shine. After non-stop rain all weekend, we took it as a sign that Auberge might just be the place to get married. Driving back to Sonoma, we stopped at one more Napa Valley winery — St. Clement. After a steep climb to the tasting room, we tried several varieties of their delicious Cabernets.
Dinner that night would be at Willi’s Seafood & Raw Bar. We had a few killer cockails at Cyrus before making our way to dine on what seemed like several dozen small plates. Oysters, fondue, riblets and more, we forgot a few times just what to expect next out of the kitchen!
The next morning before leaving we decided to take a quick stroll the grounds one more time and grab some fresh citrus for the road. What a wonderful, successful trip! A big THANK YOU to the Martins for hosting all weekend, it was so much fun!
