Max Brenner, East Village NYC

This past weekend, before heading out to meet friends, Joel and I had a hankering for some chocolate and where better to go then Max Brenner. Although food is served, the restaurant prides itself on the multiple deserts they offer in a very lengthy sweets menu. After a long, hard decision-making process, Joel and I chose our chocolate confections: Joel: Max’s Three Layer Chocolate Concoction with Cookies and Peanut Butter (just what is sounds like, plus more chocolate) and I: an Eskimo (3 kinds of house made chocolate ice cream and of course, chocolate toppings).

After eating all of our deserts we feasted on Italian Hot Chocolate served in a “Hug Cup”. The cup was meant to be held in both hands, while pouring the chocolate out of the spout in the front — a great idea for a deliciously thick, hot treat on a cold night!

  1. How does Max’s hot chocolate measure up to Marie Belle’s? I’ve heard that Marie Belle has some crazy good cocoa, and one of the secrets is it’s not made with milk. FYI: i have no vested interest in it, I’m just curious.
