Yesterday, Joel and I ate our way through the East Village. One of our many stops was at Momofuku Bakery & Milk Bar to try some desserts. We had been hearing great things about their Compost Cookie — consisting of ‘the kitchen sink’ (coffee grounds, pretzels, potato chips, etc.) — so we decided to give one a try. The cookie did not live up to the hype. There were subtle hints of coffee grounds, and a bit of saltiness from the potato chips, but overall it was very plain.
Along with the Compost Cookie, we tried their Cornflake and Marshmallow Cookie as well as the Peanut Butter Cookie. Again, they were both pretty plain cookies (my peanut butter cookie knock theirs out). Also, the Cornflake and Marshmallow Cookie was full of shredded coconut — my nemesis. I was disappointed in the fact that coconut was nowhere in the ingredients list.
On the brighter side, we did try a slice of the Crack Pie — which is appropriately named (we could have finished the whole pie, had we been given the chance). Luckily, our stomach levers were at full, so it was a no go on the whole pie.
