Macondo, Lower East Side NYC

Joel and I got a quick visit from my mom recently. Happily, we ate and drank our way through Manhattan with her. A new stop for us was the newly-opened Macondo, for their porron and tapas happy hour. It was interesting, to say the least, with lots of spilled beer and pictures. Along with the porron, we tried a few of their cocktails including a carafe of the Aguacate and Mezcal which was so delicious. It was creamy from the avocados and not too sweet yet super flavorful.

Tapas ordered included grilled corn, a bacalao topped arepa, mini spicy chorizo and shrimp soft tacos and a tapas sized cuban sandwich. The tapas were passable with the shrimp and chorizo tacos being the best. We ultimately decided that drinking the happy hour away was the best thing. One more carafe of the Aguacate and Mezcal please!
