While Sharon was out enjoying Napa Valley food, I went with a few buddies to check out Daisy May’s BBQ in Hell’s Kitchen. I love that there is a BBQ culture here in the city, far far away from the south. Blue Smoke is one of my all-time fav spots and we’ve been meaning to check out the competition.
Daisy May’s was started by Adam Perry Lang, a reputably NYC chef who wanted to start a BBQ place done right. And done right it was — I had the pulled pork platter and it was delicious. The meat came smoked to perfection in a rib-sticking sauce. You also get the choice of 2 sides and I picked bourbon sweet potatoes and the baked beans with burnt ends. More meat!
Both sides were spot on — the sweet potatoes complimented the smoky meat perfectly and the burnt ends were fantastic in the bean sauce. All in all a beautiful experience and definitely recommended!
