Memorial Day Weekend 2011 Part II

For the second half of our holiday weekend, we spent it outside. Again.

This time we ended up on Governors Island for the the first annual Pic-NYC. Lets’ just say that it was no picnic and we ended up leaving for the bike rentals. That said, biking on Govs. Island is awesome! No cars are allowed except for police and deliveries so it made riding a lot easier and less nerve racking.

The island is quite small but it is very charming. In fact, the island has just opened an exhibition featuring Mark di Suvero‘s large scale sculptures which compliment the historical buildings and open spaces. I’d highly recommend visiting the island this summer – we will be back for sure!

As for the remainder of the weekend, we spent it at the movies – as many people do – and on Stone Street with friends and beer. I believe we kicked off the summer right. All that was missing was the grill but that will come in good time…
